By framing the surroundings—whether in photography, visual arts, or architecture — we not only define what is considered valuable, beautiful, or meaningful, but also what is left outside of this view. The framed landscapes often conceal the exploitation of various ecologies, such as large infrastructure projects—roads, gas and oil pipelines, power grids, and water supply systems—that redefine land use logic and concentrate resources.
What does it feel like to frame with something that's not meant to be seen? If the frame is made of infrastructure, does the landscape become a byproduct? Can a frame become a fissure?
