Sail_Away_It’s_Time_To_Leave is a site-specific installation that meditates on the tensions between monumentality and ruination, construction and dismantling, remembering and the desire to forget. The fragmented architectural structure rising in front of the Estonian Museum of Architecture may evoke associations with a staircase, a bridge, a grandstand, or a dream.
The installation is made of scaffolding, aluminium pennants, and original granite stepping stones sourced from the Pirita Olympic Yachting Centre, completed in 1980.
The piece has been commissioned as part of the museum exhibition 'Sailing Forward'.
