BIO

Liisa Ryynänen (b. 1994, Rovaniemi, FIN) is a Helsinki-based artist working with sculptures and installations. Their pieces are often characterized by architectural site-specificity and a playful tension between low-grade building materials and sublime, archetypal forms.

Ryynänen's installations have been presented by institutions such as the AD Museum, the Helsinki Art Museum HAM, the Museum of Estonian Architecture, the Lisbon Architecture Triennale,  Solstice Festival and Helsinki Design Week.

Ryynänen graduated as an architect from the School of Arts, Design, and Architecture at Aalto University in 2020 and has studied Practical Philosophy at the University of Helsinki. In addition to their artistic practice, Ryynänen teaches architecture at Aalto University.
